THANK YOU, PAT NASH!
A torch was passed at the most recent (April) club meeting, with the annual election of officers. Paula Winsor and Diana Logan were re-elected to the positions of club president and treasurer respectively. But Pat Nash, who has been a member of DPOM almost since its inception, and has served as secretary for almost as long, decided not to run again for that position. Jan Weiner was elected to fill the secretary’s position; Jan is an experienced freestyler who has opted to commute from Cape Cod to Maine to attend our meetings as often as possible and will do an excellent job in the position.
But the purpose of this post is to acknowledge Pat’s contributions to the club and to the sport. Competing first with Shetland Sheepdog Chase, Pat exhibited in both Rally-FrEe and Musical Freestyle, earning titles in both divisions. She also joined together with two friends (the “Tres Amigos”) to work their way up through the levels in Cyber Rally O– Dance Division, becoming the first three teams (and maybe the only ones ever?) to title at the Gold level. After Chase died unexpectedly and too young, she started training and competing with Teagan (pictured).
Behind the scenes Pat has been a rock, always willing to put in the time and legwork to be sure the club was getting the details right for club meetings and special events, including educational events and special events like our first of its kind Trifecta workshop and live competitions. Her graciousness has made everyone who attends our events feel welcome.
An accomplished artist, Pat has donated pet portraits to every club auction; created custom work for workshop presenters; and shared the occasional gift portrait with club members.
Enjoy your retirement from “clubbing,” Pat, but don’t be a stranger!
